Be Prepared

Always be prepared and ready for your task at hand, it is very important to be prepared because it may save you alot of time. I recently had a flat tire with no spare tire and I was stuck on side of the road waiting for a tire shop to open so I can buy a new tire. I sat out on the side for 5 hours because I didn’t want to leave my car sitting with no supervision, but if I would have had a spare someone could have changed it for me and I would have been at home instead of on side of the road all night. Another situation where I found myself unprepared was last night when I came home from school I didn’t have the keys to my house they were inside of my house so I waited in the car for four hours for my husband to come home with the keys to our house. I can be really careless sometimes and it has made me lose out on time and money so, I hope everyone who reads this can learn hope to become more prepared.

Helping our Young People

Something came over me and help me to believe in helping the youth years ago. I see some children go through alot of misery losing their innocence and they are no longer a child. What I mean by this is that a child should be in a childs place not put into a grown up position where they are forced into being an adult. For example, I have a friend whose sister is fifteen years old and she works at McDonalds as a cashier, she had to get a work permit in order to get the job. She works five days a week from four o’clock to eleven o’ clock at night because she has bills to pay, she pays the light bill and water bill and sometimes she even pays half of the rent. I don’t understand why she has to be put into this adult position when she only fifteen, I believe in helping young ladies like this because I don’t see a future in her, I see her working instead of going to college and helping her family which she is doing today. So I say to the parents let your child have a future and let them stay a children as long as they are.

Money has too much power over people

This weekend I had a very bad experience with money, I went to club echelon where a celebrity by the name of Floyd Mayweather Jr. appeared and threw out money into the crowd. We all waited about 3 hours until he finally arrived with his entourage with his bags full of money, soon as this man walked on stage everyone went crazy and began to shout his name. Then he took out his bags of cash, when this happened the whole crowd began to get out of control. Me and my girls were all getting pushed and suffocated because everyone just rushed the stage, and it didn’t matter if they were in the back or the front they got out of control. The security was pulling people out of the crowd who were unconscious and breathless because they were smashed in between the crowd. I have never seen anything like this before, but this has made me realize that people will do anything to get their hands on some money.

Out -of-State Tuition

To be classified as an in-state student is hard work, the financial aid department expects you to live here for a year and pay taxes here which is fine. But, I have been living here for one year and eight months and I have been employed every since, Even though this is true I still had to pay out of state tuition because I didn’t file my taxes in the state of Georgia. That really hurt my pocket because once again I had to pay out-of-state tuition for school in which I went to the prior year and I have been living here consistently. I thought it was unfair to classify me as an out-of-state student because of the proof I had to prove that I had been living here and going to school here. I think this is a great way for schools to make money off of the students, because they charge us an arm and a leg to go to school in the state of Georgia even if we live here and work here. I have realized that our taxes have a lot to do with the way we pay for school, until this year I did not know how much. I was so excited about being an in-state student and having a little money left over after I had paid my tuition. Then the advisor for financial aid broke the news to me, that I would still be considered as an out if state student.

Rasicm is still alive

I never thought I would have a racist professor when I registered for math at Georgia Perimeter College. Lately I have been paying a lot of attention to my math 98 professor and I notice that she does a lot of racist things. For instance, one day I came into class and she act as if she didn’t see me walk in the door which I didn’t pay any mind to because I had came in about 5 minutes late so she already had started an assignment. But, the thing that got my attention was when another girl walked in later than I had about 15 or 20 minutes late she immediately gave her the sign in sheet and handout she was working on. I didn’t pay extreme attention to it or call her racist for that but that incident did make me pay more attention to her actions. On test day she reviewed our lesson with us and then passed out our test, I felt a little lost and asked her if I was on the right path and she said I'm not telling you anything because it's a test and I respected that because it was a test. But then yesterday when we took a test a white girl went up to her, when there were about 3 students left in class, and said "My head hurts I'm tired of doing this" she then replied to her just use the elimination process you're almost there and I don’t want you to quit now because your already on the right path. I was appalled and wanted to say something but I didn't, until today when we were doing a competition with one another and she put us into groups when she saw how good I was at it her whole demeanor changed she was suddenly aggravated and wanted to find a problem with everything I did. She didn’t want me to get up and help my team mates, or go up to the board anymore. And then I noticed that she was letting the same white girl she helped on the test and the same white boy help their team mates every single time. So when I said something about them going to the board she said we’ll let someone else go with aggression and you can tell I was getting on her last nerves but she didn’t realize how much she was getting on my nerves everyday with her racist ass. Excuse my language but I am so hurt and disgusted with her and I feel so sorry for her because she still lives in the past. I’m not a student who doesn’t participate in class or that comes late every day, or don’t turn in work. I do everything I can to pass and in good fashion, so I do not deserve that so it hurts deep down inside because I am a black woman who has done so much to get where she's at and here she comes trying to break me down.

Getting an education is important

When I was younger I didnt really understand the value of having an education. When I look at the world today I understand the benefit of having a degree/education. We are in a recession right now and it is so hard to get a job but if you dont have an education, it is alot worse. In order to be able to work in wal-mart you need at least a highschool diploma, to work at the pawn shop you need at least a highschool diploma, and in order to work as a paralegal you need to at least have an associates degree. All of these jobs require some kind of education in order to work in their environment and be apart of their team. So, I encourage everyone to get an education or pick up a trade because you will not be able to get a job anywhere with out one. You need to be able to support yourselves financially, prices are going up and so is gas. Nothing is going to slow down it will only speed up and become more difficult for you without an education.

Teenagers think before you have sex

There are a lot of young teenagers out in the world today who are having sex way too fast. They are so into boys and girls that they forget what the important things are in their lives. Like, getting an education and planning for your future. I know sometimes younger people may get distracted by the opposite sex and lose themselves in the mean time. Understand that there is a whole world out there full of adventures, goals, ambition, and dreams that are coming true. We only live once, and we have to take advantage of the time we have on this earth. Sex leads to other things, the person you have sex with could be infected with an STD. Most young people dont visit the doctors office before they become sexually active which can be bad for someone who is having sex with numerous numbers of people. Any time you come in contact with more than one person and have sex with different people frequently, there is always a chance of becoming infected. The best way to avoid this is to not have sex at all.

Brides and their Moms

I have a friend who is getting married, her original wedding date was on May 1st 2010. But that date has past and she still is not married, the reason is because her mother decided to change her wedding date according to her own personal schedule and budget. Eventhough she is paying for her daughters wedding that should not correspond with her deciding her wedding date. My friend feels like she is not allowed to make any decisions for her wedding like the most important thing, the day it will happen. Now she has rescheduled it again from June 26 2010 to July 17 2010, I am not too sure how it will happen or if it will even happen at all. However, I do not agree with her mother controlling the whole event that is suppose to be the most important event in her life. She did ask me for my advice and I advised her to do whatever is going to make her happy and something she will always remember in great fashion. I dont think anyone should have to stress about their wedding day and I also think that she should have people taking orders and directions from her on her day. I know that her mother has a big impact on her life and she loves her very much but if it was her mothers wedding day she would want nothing more but to do it her way as well.

Just to make money.....

My car was recently stolen from my apartment complex in Stone Mountain, Ga. and found in the same complex but, away from my building. The police found it and right away had it towed away from my address, the point of me relaying this information is to notify whomever is unaware. When your car is stolen and found by the police they automaticly have it towed to the impound, where you are charged a 125 dollar fee to get it and 15 dollars a day after the day it is brought in. This is unfare, first your car is stolen, then you have to pay to get it back, as if getting your car stolen, probly catching the bus or asking friends and family members for a ride isnt enough. I feel as if they are using us to get extra money and they don't even do fingerprints to run them just incase they could find out who may have stolen the car.
